Past
Parker lived a moderatedly average life with just himself, his younger half-brother, and his uncle. His mother died of a brain tumor when Kaleb was only a year old and his own father had bailed long before Parker was born. Kaleb's father was nothing but a sleezy con-artist who had only slept with the boys' mother to get close enough to take personal information, once done, he left before it was even known that Parker's mom was pregnant again.
So the boys lived with their uncle on their mom's side, and he was a good man with an average job that got him just enough to keep the three of them alive. Later on down the line however, Parker was struck hard with a cruel trick of fate. In their years growing up, Parker and Kaleb had grown as many siblings did, Parker drifting away from his younger brother as he reached maturity, the boys being 8 years apart and all, but Kaleb grew to want to spend more and more time with his brother and his friends. As all older brothers go, Parker wasn't the one to actually want Kaleb around all the time, so one day, he called a friend an made fake plans, making sure that Kaleb heard, and he made it seem that he and his friends would all be meeting at the general store down the street from his uncle's house. Kaleb fell for it, and it was this lie, this trick that led to him being caught at the scene of a robbery. It only took one stray bullet and Parker was left with the guilt that he had gotten his brother killed. Months passed and the darkness in Parker's mind grew until he could take it no more. Running out into the snowy backyard in the middle of the night, he dived into the pool, and in the darkness, as his life slipped away, he could hear Kaleb, laughing and playing as always. Closing his eyes, he could see him, almost touch him. But he never got the chance.

Present
Now Parker is for all intents and purposes, possessed by a shadow, also known a Skias. A being which uses his "living corpse" as a puppet to live a life of it's own. But Parker is trapped, having to continue living in death and never getting to pass on to the next life. He's a prisoner in his own body and there is nothing he can do to change it.
But he's found some solace, a young girl named Natalija who is like him...in a way at least. Really she is more like the Skias, but that is a more...complicated subject. Nataijia, as well as her mother, have started to help Parker in learning to take control over his body, and to know more about shadowy beings which claim the fallen bodies of the living.
